| First and foremost, we owe a big thanks to Graham Fennymore and Tony Sinclair, who displayed their championship winning cars at Race Retro last weekend. Graham’s RT3 was displayed on the Motorsport stand and Tony’s Brabham was on the HSCC stand. Motorsport were duly thrilled to have the ex-Brundle car on their stand and I am hoping that this will lead to a bigger involvement from MotorSport with Classic Formula 3 in 2014.
I am also pleased to advise everyone that the Board of the HSCC has decided that now the Club has sufficient funds to provide for most eventualities, it is proposing to distribute in various ways, the surplus achieved each year. Each race series run by the HSCC will immediately receive approximately £800 from 2013 to be distributed in a way chosen by the representatives of that series. As the amount we will receive equates to the entry fees for 3 years, I would suggest that at 3 of the 2014 meetings we put all the entrants names into a hat and the winner will receive enough to cover his entry fee for that meeting.
We are very happy to listen to other suggestions, but if we don’t receive any better ideas or adverse comments we will pick 3 meetings out of the 7 we are doing this year and advise you accordingly.
Participants for the Monaco Formula 3 race have been advised of their participation and you can see the full list of entries on the ACM site. Before that though, we have Thruxton, so get your entries in, as we are looking for a good grid at the Easter weekend meeting.
We have 15 registered racers so far for 2014 and that list does not include several people who raced in 2013 and who have not yet registered for 2014, but who are known to be coming out. Please send in your registration to Richard asap. In addition, we have approximately 13 new participants who are expecting to race maybe in all or selected events during the season. Leif Bosson who has acquired an RT1, Nick Padmore racing the ex-Sytner 783, Shaun Lynn ex-Patrese B34, Rob Tusting Pioneer Martini, Steven Pegram Ralt RT1, John and Tom Bradshaw Argo’s, Andy and Mike Jones Dallara 382, Andrew Lancaster Pilbeam NP52, Jeremy Goodman RT3, Nick Edgington Dallara 382, Malcolm Johnson March 763 and Paul Bevans Spartan SE420. That is by no means a complete list and I am hoping there will be more.
My attempts at finding race sponsors to the tune of £250 per meeting last year were unsuccessful, but with a prospect of bigger grids this year, we will follow our Formula Ford 2000 friends and try again. There are 7 meetings and it would be nice to be able to have a race sponsor for each of those meetings. This will enable us to provide some good hospitality at each round and maybe an additional trophy or two. So as you now know the calendar, let’s have you or your company sponsor a meeting and providing I know well in advance, we will give the sponsor race branding in the programme. Please come forward as soon as possible.
Look forward to seeing you at Thruxton.
