I believe those who raced at Snetterton had a good time despite the low number of entries.  Regrettably I was unable to make that meeting myself, but Richard tells me that there were two fine races between Graham Fennimore and Simon Jackson with Graham winning the first and Simon the second well done to both of them.

After the good numbers that we had for the Silverstone meeting it was a great pity that the Snetterton meeting wasn’t better attended.  Why is that as we get a double header for the normal entry fee?   Likewise, we now move on to the Non-Championship Round at Spa with our French counterparts and only 8 Classic Formula 3 members are making the trip.  There are 3 other British drivers on the entry list, though they are regular French Series competitors rather than UK.  Nevertheless, there is a fantastic grid of 51 cars (52 was the maximum) for what hopefully will be cracking weekend at the Belgium track.  The 51 is supplemented by 13 Formula Renault cars, but even then the   turnout of 38, 2 litre Formula 3 cars is excellent.  It is a pity we haven’t got more UK entries, especially when we get 25 minutes qualifying and two 25 minute races.

Next up in the UK is Brands Hatch in July.  Entries close for this on the 21st June, so if you haven’t already sent your entry off then please do so as quickly as possible.  As we know, the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit is a wonderful circuit for our Formula 3 cars, so it is a good opportunity for many of those we haven’t yet seen to make an appearance.  It’s possible that one or two of our French friends may make the trip as they don’t have a clashing round, though they will have been at Le Mans the previous week and it may still be a bit too much for them.  Nevertheless, they are always welcome to supplement our grids.  We must get the numbers or we face being amalgamated with the DBT as track time that weekend is precious.

Hopefully the fuel situation is now resolved and we will shortly be granted permission by the MSA to use FIA approved 102 octane Sunoco fuel.

WE are on the Sunday Schedule at Brands, so depending on the timetable, we will see if we can organise a barbeque or something.

One last request, many will know that Bruce Bartell was involved in a horrific accident during testing at Silverstone, which totally destroyed his ex-Rupert Keegan Chevron B34.  The test session was held in conjunction with “Radicals” i.e., Silverstone mixed open wheelers with closed wheelers and the driving standard of the “Radicals” was pretty abysmal.  If there was anybody testing that day that hasn’t already been asked about his experience with the Radicals then please let Bruce know.  Bruce feels rightly aggrieved with Silverstone for allowing the radicals out at the same time as the open wheel cars.  So, if anyone else feels the same way then Bruce would like to hear from you.  You can get him at Bruce.Bartell@chaucerplc.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Brands, in the meantime enjoy the summer weather!
